About

Evgeni Dinev

In web space people know me as Evgord. In fact, this is the name of my web page, and I try to very rarely resort to using it as my nick name. I prefer Evgeni.

I have been in the web design business for eight years now. So I have every right to consider myself an experienced designer. Despite the existing formal division between designer and coder, I took to the combined approach in my work. Consequently I do both the design and coding, combine vision and construction. Though I am always fascinated with the new approaches to web design, I do not aim at the creation of extravagant and heavy pages, with extraordinary vision. Rather, I visualize my pages as pleasant-looking and easy-to-handle.

I completely ignore WYSIWYG editors like DreamWeaver. I prefer writing in my favorite text editor EditPlus, which is a mandatory premise for obtaining and maintaining high quality.

As I have already mentioned in my portfolio, I strive to comply with the current web standards. I am used to strictly delimiting design and structure, i.e. the CSS/XHTML combinations can be fully applied to my creations.

In 2004 I was awarded an Honorable Presence at WebStandardsAwards.com. I have also participated in the CSSBeauty.com exhibition with evgord.com, Dinis-91 and another project of mine: music OK, as well as in other similar web galleries’ exhibitions, like those at CSSImport, CSSDesign, CSSThesis, NETImperium, CSS-Mania, ScreenSpire, etc.

Also, in 2004 I took part in the HTML Design Guru contest for interface and design of the new SourceGear product — Dragnet, and finally won the first prize.

I have been recently working mainly as a freelancer. My longest lasting employment was a year and a half with a company, where my major task was the production of sites “on a wholesale basis” — mostly pop stars’ fan sites or Hollywood productions’ sites; and these had to be absolutely completed and functioning within two working days. Another quite ordinary practice was the serial production of 40 banners daily.

I am very proud of my latest projects. I consider them a break out of the chains of the old idea for web design. And, besides, it is obvious that people like them too.
